Communication

One of the most important aspects of World PvP is communication. Everyone involved needs to be aware of what is expected of them, and at all times. Typing tactics in the games chat window is to slow and cumbersome, so voice communication is essential. Most WPvP guilds will insist on this as a prerequisite to start with.
[expand to include Target Caller, Teampeak3 etc]

Into the action

To begin with, WvW can seem very daunting, very large maps with what appears to be not a lot happening for the most part. Where to find the action will be the first hurdle. Luckily there are a few pointers as to where to hang out if you want some of the action.

  • Eternal battle grounds is the center point, more action, more zergs etc
  • Commanders have blue icon, can left click to 'join squad' can see squad chat and stuff Generally people follow commanders, a good indication of where your zurg is.
  • Orange sword means that there is a battle of 25 players or more in combat (zurg on zurg)
  • White swords on map means the objective (outpost) under attack. 30 second delay before displayed (To help small groups get in and out)
  • Trebuchets (siege weapons) are visible on the map

What Is World Vs World?

In Guild Wars 2, World vs World (WvW) is where players from one server battle other players from two different servers simultaneously (WvWvW). Battles occur across 4 very large maps in an attempt to capture and gain control of various 'Outposts'. Points are awarded every 15 minutes for each 'Outpost' that your server currently controls. Differing amounts of points are awarded based on the importance of each outpost. The more you control, the greater the points. At the end of each week, the server with the most amount of points win. To enter World vs World, click on the Castle icon at the top of the screen, or press 'B' by default. Also, each home city has a portal to 'Lions Arch' where other gates lead to the W v W Borderlands.
